Before you keep scrolling, definitely take a look at heat pumps, especially if you’d love to have air conditioning as well. A lot of people are opting to add air conditioning to their HVAC system because our summers seem to be getting hotter every year here in Western Washington. What many people don’t know is that you can have BOTH with a heat pump.
The name is deceiving. Heat pumps are an excellent investment that heat and cool. If you are looking to replace or install a furnace, you should really consider this option. There’s a revolution out there and it’s all starting with new heat pump technology! If you’ve done any research about improving the heating or cooling system at home or in your office, then you’ve most likely heard about the benefits of heat pumps. Heat pumps are the modern and highly efficient technology that is replacing older heating and cooling systems.
Unlike newer heat pump technology, older models of heat pumps weren’t as widely used because of costs. Old heat pumps were seen as costly to use, especially in colder climates. With this newer technology though, modern heat pumps are well equipped to handle the heating needs of a property no matter where they are located. Extreme temperatures are no match for the newest heat pump technology. A new and improved ductless heat pump can heat your home or office and keep it warm in below freezing climates.
Latest Heat Pump Technology
The latest heat pump technology is energy efficient and more eco friendly as well. While they do use electricity, they are still more energy efficient than natural gas or oil based heating systems. Less reliance on fossil fuels to provide heat means a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gasses which is better for us and the environment. Higher efficiency also means more savings for home and property owners overall. While usage of a heat pump may increase depending on the type of heat pump you have and depending on the season, electric heat pumps still offer more savings than gas or oil. Not only that, but you could qualify for special rebates if you make the switch to a new heat pump.
King County, Pierce, and Snohomish county offer special rebates and considerations for homeowners who install new heat pumps. Puget Sound Energy also offers programs for residents to switch from their old heating systems to heat pumps. The technology for heat pumps has only gotten better over the years. Improvements have been made to the heating coils, compressors, and the refrigerants – the vital components that deliver and transfer the heat. Because of these attractive rebate offers and the fact that this new heat pump technology has completely changed the HVAC industry, more and more homeowners are getting new heat pumps installed. A heat pump isn’t just efficient at heating your home, it can just as effectively keep it cool during warmer periods. Since heat pumps work by transferring heat rather than generating heat, when it gets too hot inside, a heat pump will move the hot air outside. This leaves your home cool and comfortable, especially during unbearable heat waves. A highly efficient heat pump is also better at dehumidifying which assists in keeping your home cool for longer periods of time.
New Heat Pump System
The most common and well received high efficiency heat pump is a mini split. Mini splits get their name because they are a split system with two units, one inside and the other outside. Each split contains a separate coil which aids in heat transfers. If it gets too cold inside, the outdoor coil will heat the air outside which evaporates the refrigerant inside the coil into a gas. That gas flows to the separate coil inside and releases heat as it condenses the refrigerant back into liquid form. A similar reaction occurs when it becomes too warm inside the home. With the help of a valve, the heat transfer can be reversed, allowing the coil inside to transfer any extra heat and deposit it outside. New and improved heat pump systems will only continue to get better. Great strides have been made to increase the efficiency of heat pumps in colder climates. With these advancements, cold-climate heat pumps are now a legitimate heating alternative for those living in colder regions. Combine that with the opportunity to generate almost three times as much heat energy as older heat pumps and it’s hardly a surprise that “North America has the largest number of homes with heat pumps today.”
